Forget Your Elevator Speech. Practice Your Search String Speech. (Internet Marketing)

No doubt you have your highly polished elevator speech for the prospect you meet in person, but do you know the top 4 search strings people would use to find your product or service?

If not, it’s time to develop and polish them. You should know the top 4 search strings you think people are using on the search engines with the same level of clarity as your elevator speech. Search strings are getting longer and longer.

In fact a new study by Hitwise shows that 47% of all searches are now 3 words or longer and an amazing 17% of them are five words or longer. That means you can’t optimize your site around “plastic surgeon” or “air conditioning repair” because people are looking for something more specific.

Know what those phrases are for your site and make sure your site is pointed directly at those targets when it comes to its Search Engine Optimization. If you’re not using an analytics program (and you should be) ask your customers either what they did use to find you in a search engine or what would they use. Ask your employees.

The more specific you are, the more qualified lead you will attract and that means more sales.
